Ahsoka is getting ready to start on Disney+. This new Star Wars show stars Rosario Dawson and is closely tied to the larger Star Wars universe.
So, it’s a good idea to remember some essential things about the main character’s life before you start watching. Ahsoka won’t be alone – other Star Wars heroes and villains are also coming back in this series. It continues a conflict that started a while back. Here are 10 things to keep in mind before you start watching.
Who Is Ahsoka?
Ahsoka is a warrior from the Togruta species and has a solid connection to the Force. As a young girl, she first appeared in the animated movie “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” in 2008. Initially, fans weren’t very fond of her because of her overconfident personality.
But things changed when she became a central character in her series, “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” which lasted for seven seasons. Over time, she won the hearts of fans and became one of the most beloved characters in the Star Wars universe. She also appeared in another show, “Star Wars: Rebels,” as a recurring character.
What Does Ahsoka Have To Do With Anakin Skywalker?
Ahsoka is closely linked to Anakin Skywalker, who would eventually become Darth Vader. The young warrior was none other than her Padawan during the Clone Wars. Anakin trained Ahsoka in the Jedi arts and succeeded in making her a formidable and highly intelligent fighter and strategist. Once the Empire came to power and Skywalker became the evil Sith Lord, Ahsoka faced her former Master in the Rebels, as mentioned earlier.
Is Ahsoka A Jedi?
Despite being trained by Anakin, Ahsoka left the Jedi Order before completing her training. She was falsely accused of a crime she did not commit, and despite being able to prove her innocence, she decided to leave. Since then, she has acted for good and justice, facing the Empire and helping the most disadvantaged. But, officially, she is not a Jedi, as she reminds Vader.
Why Their Swords Are White
Yes, ok, Jedi lightsabers are usually blue or green (and to a lesser extent yellow, purple, and other colors); Ahsoka’s are not. Neither are they black like the Dark Saber nor red like those of the Sith. They are two white sabers.
At first, when he was a padawan, his swords did have color. But in leaving the Order, he left them behind. One year after the end of the Clone Wars, Ahsoka faced the Sixth Brother of the Inquisitors. Upon defeating him, he seized the kyber crystals that power his swords. These emitted the iconic red energy, but the heroine purified them, turning them white..
Who Are Sabine Wren And Hera Syndulla
Two main characters in the Ahsoka series are Sabine Wren and Hera Syndulla.. Both were part of the star Wars star team, Rebels, now debuting in actual image. Sabine is a Mandalorian with a great artistic sensibility. While Hera is a prodigious pilot for the Rebel Alliance.. The rest of the team included the deceased Jedi Kanan Jarrus (Hera’s partner), the missing Jedi Ezra Bridger, the giant Lasat Zeb Orrelios, and the droid Chopper. Ahsoka helped them on different missions in their fight against the Empire.
Who Is Grand Admiral Thrawn
Grand Admiral Thrawn was one of the main villains in Star Wars: Rebels. It is a tremendously powerful and malevolent imperial, capable of the worst genocides to maintain the dictatorial regime of Emperor Palpatine.
During the Battle of Lothal, he was defeated and disappeared into space, but he did not die, as anticipated in the trailer for Ahsoka. His possible return could spark a new war and rise of evil.
What Happened To Grand Admiral Thrawn And Ezra Bridger
Ezra defeated Thrawn on the latter’s home planet., Lothal, under imperial control. In a suicidal strategy, Ezra lured a pod of purrgils, space whales capable of jumping into hyperspace. These destroyed Thrawn’s entire fleet. As a last resort, Ezra held him in his ship when the villain tried to escape.
The purrgils grabbed the massive destroyer and jumped into hyperspace with the Jedi and Admiral inside. His whereabouts are unknown. At the end of Rebels, several years later, Ahsoka contacts Sabine to find Ezra and bring him back home.
What Is The World Between Worlds
The world between worlds is an enclave far from the temporal and spatial dimensions of the galaxy. It is a mystical place from which you can change the past. Ezra accessed it from the Lothal Jedi Temple. There, he rescued Ahsoka just before Vader finished her off. The warrior realized the robust nature of the site.
But at that time, Emperor Palpatine located them through the Force and tried to gain access as well.. Had he succeeded, he could have ensured an eternal dictatorship, preventing the Rebel Alliance from defeating him. Fortunately, Ahsoka and Ezra escaped and sealed the place before that happened.. That was the last time the two saw each other.
When Is The Series Set?
Ahsoka is set after the original Star Wars trilogy but before the aftermath. Luke Skywalker and the Rebels have defeated the Empire., and the New Republic has taken control of the galaxy. Some imperial nostalgics intend to reverse the facts, although until now, they have been kept at bay. It is in this same period that series such as The Mandalorian or The Book of Boba Fett.
How It Connects With The Mandalorian
Precisely, Dawson made her first appearance as Ahsoka in the second season of The Mandalorian.in what was also the character’s live-action debut. Din Djarin and Grogu allied with her to train the little, although she refused (but not before finding out Baby Yoda’s real name). Also, in that episode, Ahsoka found and captured Morgan Elsbeth, an Imperial sympathizer with information on the whereabouts of Grand Admiral Thrawn, and thus Ezra.
